Badgers

My wife Claire (who should know about these things) informs me that in this country it is illegal to have in your possession a live badger. The stipulations of the Protection of Badgers Act (1992) also outlaws the possession of a dead badger or any part thereof.

And as we discussed it is a capital offence and therefore it is a divorce worthy offence. (For those not in ET2.1 on Tuesday will wonder what I am on about), (actually for those in ET2.1 might wonder too!)

Your angle and linking to this would be good to see:

But why would you want a badger, dead or alive?

I'm really not sure why you'd want a badger. I find the whole thing hilarious.

Because of this piece of legislation, neighbourhoods which experience badger related problems find it extremely hard to do anything about it.

Ans who says John Major's government achieved nothing. :(

Thanks for the link Dave. Tim Dennis has also linked to it on facebook so I've had a read already.

Oh, I know. I have an aunt who is actively campaigning to have the law revoked. She collects evidence of badger damage on the farm and in the local neighbourhood and then harasses our MP about it. According to her, badges (like foxes and polecats) will kill for fun, not just for food. Not to mention the collateral damage they inflict. I still think they look kind of cute in a Wind in the Willows sort of way, though.
